Symplify Exchange OWA url 2010 SP1 / SP2

Users want a simple access to the webmail. So i decided to edit the settings of the url. So that users can just type in the address bar webmail.contoso.com instead of https://webmail.contoso.com/owa or /exchange. Just redo the steps below when you installed SP2. The installation has done a reset to the default Exchange settings.

Just select the default website in the IIS. Go to "HTTP Redirect" and edit the default url.

When you set the redirect settings on the "Default Website" undo this settings on the Vdir's:

• aspnet_client
• Autodiscover
• ecp
• EWS
• Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
• OAB
• PowerShell
• Public
• Rpc

Also for the SSL settings, when edited on the "Default Website" it's inherited by the other Vdir's. So undo it manually.

When this is done, open a elevated commandprompt and type "iisreset" (without the quotations ofcourse)

NOTE: when SP2 is installed, just undo the SSL settings otherwise the redirection won't work!!

When the settings are done and you want to reset the IIS and /noforce won't work. Just use iisreset, later on the site is working.

When you install Exchange 2010 SP1, reboot the server afterwards. Later on install the latest Rollup. Latest is version 6.

If you have a error in your Webapp now, you have forgotten to remove the Redirection on the public Vdir.
